thumbnail CITY OF DALLAS
PUBLIC ART COLLECTION

More than a century ago, on April 29, 1897, Dallas citizens dedicated the Confederate Monument at Old City Park.  In 1962, the monument was moved to a site that is now part of the Dallas Convention Center campus.  Created by San Antonio artist Frank Teich, the sculpture group became the first piece of public art installed in the City of Dallas, to be followed by many more donated as well as commissioned works, until today the City’s collection numbers over 245 individual works valued at over $19,000,000.  The collection features works by world-renowned artists, as well as many Dallas artists, some of whom hace achieved international; recognition.  All have made a significant contribution to the mystique of "Big D."
